Safety Tips for Your Next Live Show

This year is leading up to the largest year of live events since the pandemic has begun. With multiple music festivals for all kinds of genres and musical artists going on tour from Spring until Winter. Whether you are going alone or with a group of friends, here are ten tips on staying safe at your next live event while also having a good time.

Bring a Battery Pack and Spare Charger

A phone is an important way to communicate with others whenever needed. Battery life can run out quickly when you are anticipating an artist to come out, making it important to have a charger when your phone starts to run out of battery. In the case of an emergency or situation where you need to contact someone, try to keep a sufficiently powered phone on you to avoid conflict.

Stay Hydrated

While it is an amazing time to see the artist you adore live, try to drink some water before, during, and after the show to ensure you remain hydrated for the duration of the concert. When an artist starts to go on stage there tends to be more energy and humidity in the atmosphere, especially indoors. To make sure you do not feel off or nauseated during a show, make sure you drink plenty of water.

Take Note of Your Exits

Pay attention to all of the exits in the event of an emergency. Find out which exit is the closest in case it is needed. Take note of what is around and who to tell to meet up with, if you are going with others. If driving to the venue, make sure to remember where exactly you parked so you do not have to wander in a parking lot at night.

Bring Comfortable Shoes

Outfit decisions when going to concerts have gained popularity since the reopening of shows. Make sure that you can wear shoes that are comfortable to walk around and stand in so you are able to enjoy the show to the best ability.

Drink Responsibly

When you are of age, it can be easy to buy multiple drinks for a show as a way to stay hydrated or have fun. When you do drink, make sure it is done safely and you are not doing anything that could put yourself in danger. If you do engage in drinking, try to find a safe ride home, and do not drive while under the influence.

Talk to People You Are Comfortable Around

Whether you are going alone or with a group of friends, finding someone you trust to talk to while waiting for an artist or waiting outside can help pass time and can help you stick around someone if you need to talk to while waiting.

Try to Find Where Security Staff is Located

The security staff’s main objective is to keep concert and festival-goers safe. Pay attention to staff who is wearing reflective clothing or shirts that are in all caps which let you know that they are with the venue. You can confide in these people because they were hired to keep everyone in the venue safe to the best of their abilities.

Protect Your Valuables

Protect your valuables like your wallet, keys, and electronics in a place you can keep protected at all times. Venues tend to have heavy audiences and it can be easy to lose small items that are worth many. If you have pockets, a venue-approved bag, or a distinguished person to hold onto your belongings, make sure it is kept safe to the best of your ability.

Share Your Location With Someone You Trust

It can be easy to lose yourself in a large crowd. Whether you are going alone or with a group of friends, make sure to share your location with someone you may trust. Just in case of an emergency, your location can be tracked and you can be easily found.

Check-In With Venue Guidelines

Most venues tend to have their own set of rules to make sure you are staying safe while having fun already. Checking in to what exactly the venue deems safe and allowed is helpful to find out what exactly is appropriate when attending a show. Try to avoid getting removed from a venue because of their guidelines.

Live music is a great way to get closer to an artist and enjoy the music you love from a new perspective. Making sure you are staying safe while seeing the artists you enjoy adds to the experience by making it enjoyable. Make sure you are staying safe with these tips and the comfort of your surroundings and as always, have fun!
