Women That Rock Presents: International Women’s Day

In celebration of the International Women's Day 2022, the music discovery platform Women That Rock will host a concert on March 9th at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, NY. This event  will feature the best upcoming women in music such as Rozzi, Demi Ramos, Stalking Gia, Cloe Wilder, Ok Cowgirl and Scarlet Fiorella.

Women That Rock was founded in 2018 by New Yorker Andie Aronow whose devotion was to discover, celebrate and support the best rising female and non-binary artists. With the advent of the International Women's Day show, I would like to give you a sneak peak of some of the empowering women that will be performing at the show.

Scarlet Fiorella

Singer and songwriter who describes her music as "a bottle of red wine and speaking your mind”. She launched her music career in Philadelphia under her former name Scarlet Cimillo but in her transition as a musician she decided to include her middle name “Fiorella” and create a catalog that's inspired by 2000's R&B with a singer-songwriter edge

Ok Cowgirl

Indie rock four-piece fronted by the singer/songwriter Leah Lavigne and accompanied by Matt Birkenholz on drums, Jase Hottenroth on bass, and Jake Sabinsky on guitar. Based in Brooklyn and with a wealth of experience playing and working in bars, clubs, and DIY spaces across the New York music scene.Their goal is that when people  listen to their music they find “a place for reprieve and release.”

Cloe Wilder

Her voice is beyond her years and she has been able to show the passion she holds for creating music on her YouTube channel. This indie-pop singer and songwriter started 2022 off strong with the release of her new single “We’re Not Special,” co-written by her and produced by Sam Nicolosi.

Rozzi

San Francisco-born singer and songwriter, who at her young age has already collaborated with world renowned artists such as Maroon 5, Kendrick Lamar and Pusha T. Rozzies purpose in music is to “get women to speak their minds more, say what they mean, and be brave with what they share.”

Stalking Gia

Besides writing her own music, playing guitar and overseeing all the arrangements, Stalking Gia creates all the visuals for her own music. The artist stated in one of her interviews; “I’m a creator, I live to create art and turn my life and my stories into music. Every day is a different day.”

Demi Ramos

Pop-rock artist, elite model and host of Popdust’s podcast.  This Puerto Rican Bronx native started a rock band at the age of eleven and while she continues to work with the band she is experimenting with a solo project. Her latest release is Killer 4U a song about an imaginary romance in NYC, replete with sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Killer 4U is co-produced by Geoffrey Hufford of Two Feet and Demi

The purpose of this show is that these incredible female artists become the inspiration and motivation for all women who may not dare to make music. Their voices represent women in music. This show will be an example of how women support one another through music. It will be an unforgettable show.

I will keep this post updated with photos of the show.
